School Ambassador Programme
Prosper Fingal commenced an exciting project with the Transition Year Students from six secondary schools across Fingal in 2018. The project has two parts; the Prosper Fingal Ambassador Programme and The Making a Difference Award. This project aims to develop a partnership with the students whereby they gain an insight into the abilities of people with disabilities and share this insight with their schools, and it also recognises the student/s who make a significant impact on the life/lives of others less advantaged than themselves.
On the 4th of December the students, from Skerries Community College, Loreto Secondary School Balbriggan, St. Josephs Secondary School Rush, Fingal Community College Swords, Portmarnock Community School and Ardgillan Community College along with their Transition Year Coordinators attended an information session in Prosper Fingal. They were given a brief history of how the service developed and how Prosper supports people with disabilities. They met a number of people who are supported by Prosper Fingal, some of whom presented on their life and joined in a question and answer session.
The session was a great success and the students will take this information back to their peers in their schools, to their families, and to the wider community. Indeed this is just the first and more events will roll out throughout 2019.
Congratulations to all involved!
