‘Making a Difference’ St. Joseph’s, Rush
The recipient of the Making a Difference award at St. Joseph’s is described as a student who makes a difference in so many ways without even realising he’s doing it, and yet does it in abundance.
David Kelly’s presence in the school became very clear when, as a core member of the Prosper Fingal class in 2017, he brought humour, commitment and kindness to the group, and unquestionably left his mark on the service users.
During that year his commitment to the school’s SVP Christmas Hampers was nothing short of inspiring. Devoting himself to hours upon hours of volunteer work he brought something special and unique to everything he undertook. Not only did his actions lead to making a difference to all those who received the hampers, but his presence did the same to the group who had the pleasure of being in his company.
David is described by his teachers as being unassuming in nature, a genuinely nice young man and a born leader in every sense of the word. He loves a good problem or disaster, as he thrives on coming up with solutions.
The principal remembers David shoveling snow to clear the pathways around the school during the snow of 2018 as simply one of his stand out moments. He has left his mark on the school and his community in ways that are impossible to describe.
Congratulations to David and to all at St. Joseph’s School, Rush.
